Gaelic appears to be less widley used in Ireland than Welsh is used in Wales..?

I agree....Welsh SHOULD be an official language of the EU...it has an equal footing with English in Wales, and here in this part of the Llŷn Peninsula, over 80% of people speak it every day as their first language... me included.
