What's a reasonable price for drywall installation in Milwaukee, WI area?
On a small project like yours(4 rooms) I would figure $1.50 per sq ft. If the wall is 7.5' long you must figure it at 8' because you cant buy a 7.5' sheet. And yes you have to pay for the scrap that you throw away. And dont try to hang it yourself because chances are you will be charged more to have your mistakes fixed!. Trust me i run into this all the time. I sometime charge more to finish a job someone else has hung themselves than if i would have done the whole job to start with. Some questions you can ask.... Hmmm where do i start.. Ok To start with 95% of drywallers are drunks, partiers and down right s! Reason being is there is little or no licensing to do drywall ,so anybody can do it. So you may want to ask a little about his life, family ect to see what type of man he is. If he is late with his estimate you can almost count on him being late with his job.Ask him if he knows what a banjo or a bazooka is , If he gives you a weird look send him packing because he is not a real drywaller. This may sound like im being extreme but i have seen it all in the drywall trades.Ya Ya this has been long winded ,but im telling you to make shure you pick the right man for the job because the quality of the drywall job is what will make or break the looks of your remodel job. Get some references and lots of em. If he can only provide 1 or 2 chances are he has very few happy customers! Im serious! I hate my life as a drywaller because of the crappy selection of "QUALITY" drywallers i have to choose from. Do not fall for the smooth talkers, the ones that promise the world and take half down to start and spend it all on beer, mountin dew and cigaretts. Try to find a drywall buisness owner that does alot of the work himself as this will help with the quality of the job.Ok i have to stop as i could go on all day. Hope this helps atleast a little.
